I love green smoothies! After my most recent bicycle accident I knew I needed to heal myself with nutrition. I had a broken pelvis and wasn’t able to stand for more than a minute or two even with the help of crutches. My dad saved the day by gifting me a Vitamix so I could easily prepare nutritious smoothies to fuel my recovery. I’ve used that amazing appliance at least once a day for the past five years. I make a green smoothie every day to make sure I have a good dose of greens and nutrients to take with me on the go.
I’m so lucky to have a blender where I stay in Puerto Vallarta, after a particularly hot jog this morning I needed a quick fix afterwards. I usually don’t add ice to my smoothies, but in this Mexico heat, it was very necessary. If you don’t have a blender handy on your travels, always tote one of those blender shaker bottle things so you can mix on the go!
1 cup ice cubes
1 cup water (or unsweetened almond milk)
1/2 banana
1/2 mango
1 cup spinach
1/3 avocado
2 scoops of unsweetened organic protein powder
Get funky with any variation of the above ingredients, just make sure to get a balance of healthy fats, protein, and natural sweetness!
